Grizzly Peak is an ancient volcanic steam vent. The lower portion of the mountain is covered with a sandy light gray colored volcanic ash and the summit is crowned with interesting formations and arches of reddish brown volcanic rock. Possibly named during the 1891-96 Dardanelles survey as it showed on the first edition map in 1898. Nearby meadow and lakes appeared first on the Tower Peak map in 1956.
