Firefall 2013

Wilderness

Interesting Facts & Highlights

Yosemite

A winter only event, usually occurring in mid-February when there is the right mix of temperature to allow a catch basin of water to flow over El Cap, mild winds to fluff up the water cascade, and clear skies and horizon to let the sunset beam into Yosemite Valley. When these are met, this ephemeral event can be as spectacular as the firefalls created in the early days of Yosemite National Park. However, it is elusive!
