Interesting Facts & Highlights

Yosemite

The high point of the Yosemite Wilderness at the northern edge before you drop into Hoover. We camped below at Mary's Lake and were treated to a spectacular light show as you can see below. One of three points in the Sierra that the name 'Castle Peak' has been given to, and was the first and original. Named by G.H. Goddard while scouting the area for railway exploration under Lt. Moore in 1853. However, the name was used for a rounded peak 18 miles away and 'Tower Peak' was bestowed on this tower in the Wheeler Survey atlas sheet 56D in 1878-89.
