May 2013 Seward & Resurrection Bay

One of the advantages of business travel are those opportunities to add some fun time to hard work. Now, I will be the first to admit that going to Alaska for work, for me, is not a bad thing. And having the opportunity to have Betsey join me for the weekend, is icing on the cake. This year it was a few days in Seward taking in a Resurrection Bay tour to soak in the scenery and catch some wildlife. And we hit the jackpot. As Betsey has described it, it was like a three part play with scene after scene unfolding in front of your eyes. Here are the cast of characters.

March 2013 Matanuska Valley & AWCC

"The AWCC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving Alaska’s wildlife through conservation, public education, and quality animal care. AWCC takes in injured and orphaned animals year-round and provides spacious enclosures and quality animal care. Animals that cannot be released into the wild are given a permanent home at the center." The prior word are from the main page on their website and if you visit, take some time and help out this valuable organization. It is well worth it!

January 2013 Juneau

A staiton visit took me to Juneau, the capital of Alaska, with a visit to the Mendenhall Glacier and some fun time with Jason & Sue (FedEx co-consiprators)

January 2013 AWCC

Cold, cold, cold!!! What would you expect in January!!! The good news, the skies were clear, blue and crisp. I ventured down to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center to catch some glimpses of winter activity and deal with zero degree temperatures and winds gusting to 30mph. A bit of challenge being outdoors and having to manipulate a camera. But I was able to bear the cold and get some interesting shots.

May our paths and errands meet...
