Mt. Conness 2016 :: Base Camp Peaks
This year was a short trip given all that has happened in the past two. However, as is normal, we packed in a bit of fun, hiking, climbing and for me, more photo ops. The Geos were at the mercy of United Airlines as they delivered a cancelled flight and 14 hour delay to our plans. While it did damper our chances for a close-in campsite, it did not damper our determination to make it work. Off we went to explore the eastern side of Yosemite and climb one of her high peaks.

Tuolumne Meadows 2013 :: Base Camp Peaks
2013 would prove to be a scheduling challenge and require flexibility in execution. As this was a Geo year to pick, he decided that a pack-in into the the southern part of Emigrant Wilderness to hit some peaks was in order. We set up with Aspen Meadows but had to postpone because of family reasons. Then trying to sync our two schedules with work and other vacations was a herculean task. Finally the 3rd week of Septmeber emerged but now the Rim Fire had waylaid our original plans.

Yosemite Hi-Sierra Camps :: 2010 ~ 6 Days & 45.5 Miles
nd now for something different! With George on the doorstep of his September wedding, we decided to make it easy on both of us and skip the planning, packing, logistics and just have someone haul us around, feed us and set up our tents so we could goof off. About time! And the winning bid was from the Yosemite Hi-Sierra Camps by mule. Talk about posh. Best part was that our favorite Yosemite packer was leading the trip, none other than Sheridan King.

PCT Tuolumne South 2009 :: 10 Days & 55 Miles
Back on track for 2009! After a few years of variations on a theme, it was time to get back to slogging trails and hauling stuff. Our goal this year was to complete the Yosemite section of the PCT. The trip was ready to go but then Mother Nature tossed out a twisted challenge in the form of the Big Oak fire. As H120 was closed from Crane Flat to White Wolf, that meant the long way around via Sonora Pass and Lee Vinning.

Yosemite Park Autumn 2005 :: Half Dome & Photo Time
Yosemite in the fall!!! We had our eye on getting up and down Half Dome with two overnight camps at Little Yosemite to make it a an enjoyable weekend trip. However, the God of Permits was not in a gracious mood and struck down our well-meaning stand-in-line early-morning attempt. So we opted to make the best of it in one of the crown jewels of the National Park system. George and John decided for a one-day attempt and I bid them farewell, went back to sleep and got up to explore the valley and Tuolumne Meadows.

Yosemite Ridges 2002 :: 9 Days & 48.7 Miles
This was the year to expand our exploration of the Yosemite Wilderness with visits to Upper Twin, Peninsula, Otter and Tilden Lakes. This was the year to bag a couple of new peaks along the way. This was the year to nab some more pictures for the web site. And finally this was the year to make it up Tower Peak. However, as is with the best laid plans of mice and men, we only reached some of our goals, met challenges along the way and learned a valuable lesson.
