Iceland Fire & Ice October 2023
Betsey and I have had an eye on Iceland for some time now and it all came together as we planned for our 30th anniversary escapade. Our main draw was to see the Aurora Borealis after being teased by the recent southerly sightings close to us, but just far away to be out of reach. We were going to be in London burning off Virgin Atlantic points anyways, so a short trip north (3 hours) was a nice dovetail.

France Wanderings September 2014
Time flies when you are living a wonderful life together. Our 20th anniversary crept up on us quicker than expected, but nevertheless we knew we wanted to something special. After a bit of globe dart throwing, we settled on France and a deeper dive into the countryside. Someone recommended a barge trip and looking over the possibilities, it seemed to be a relaxing way to capture the countryside feeling. So off we went to our French neighbors to get some advise.

When it is a special vacation you should allocate enough time to really immerse yourself and completely enjoy the experience. Having not taken off for more than a week in many years, 2010 presented me with a rare scenario, two weeks left to take or loose it. Not a chance! Betsey and I got out the imaginary dart board and came up with London and Istanbul. London to visit relatives we had not seem in awhile and Istanbul to see where West meets East and explore a new place.

Brugge Belgium Winter 1998
We started our trip at Waterloo station in London, boarded the Eurostar and moved at warp speed until we reached Brussels, the Belgium and EU capital. A local express put us at the Brugge station within an hour. There was a harsh wind crossing the North Sea and penetrating your outer shell like you were on top of the world, sitting in the jet stream.

Venice Simplon-Orient Express October 1994
When you think of the Orient Express, who cannot help conjure up Hercule Poirot solving a murder mystery on the snowbound train, or the countless images of traveling in luxury of an era gone by. As we were deciding on our honeymoon trip, it became our first choice to experience what luxury travel means today. Besides, all that hard work of putting people on planes to go experience their trip of a lifetime, it was our turn now.
