Kauai Roaring 20s
The northern most inhabited island in the Hawaiian chain is laid back and quiet. Named the Garden Island, it is lush and lays claim to the wettest spot on earth, Mount Waialeale averaging more than 452 inches a year. Betsey and I have started to gravitate towards this magical place with the Princeville/Hanalei area getting most of our attention. If you visit, come to decompress and taste the best sushi on the planet at the Hanalei Dolphin!

Maui Valley island
Who could not fall in love with the tropical breezes, warm sunny days, breezy nights and the aloha spirit that envelopes these specks of land in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. One of our repeat destinations is Maui, with miles of beaches, abundant snorkeling and the marvel of Haleakala, a personal favorite.
Kona Big island
Kona Big Island
In March a new island was in our sights, the Kona Coast! I visited many years ago on a Marlin fishing trip but had not been back since. This was to be a get together with George, Sara and his family to climb and celebrate his 50th state high point that had started with Mount Rainier on 9.11. The plan was to attempt Mauna Kea at the front end of the week and then soak in sun, sand and water. For once, it actually unfolded as conceptualized. The climb went well and is chronicled in the Mountains section @ Mauna Kea. Here is a look at how the rest of the vacation went

Antigua & St. Johns Caribbean
Betsey, having lived on the East Coast is no stranger to the warm islands of the Caribbean. However, being a left coaster for all the time I have spent in the Americas, 2003 was to be my first year to visit this archipelago dotting the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico. Join Betsey and I as we explore more!
